Watertown (Mayer) Mudcats Capture NSCBL 2011 "A" Title

The Watertown (Mayer) Mudcats went undefeated thru the “A” bracket of the NSCBL 35 and older state baseball championships beating the Alexandria Classic Clippers in the championship game. The Mudcats outscored their opponents 33-6 in their four tournament games. After two early wins against Dassel and Loretto the team faced off against Alex in a tight game until a fourth inning two out, two run double by Jeff Monahan broke the game open to help push the Mudcats to the championship game where they eventually met up one more time with the Clippers. The Mudcat bats were in full swing again as they went on to win the championship game 8-4.
Steve “Skeeter” Schulte picked up three wins on the mound for the Mudcats while Jeff Keavy picked up the win in the championship game on his 40th birthday. Chris Engelmann and Derek Falde led the Mudcats on offense coming up with big hits all weekend.
